Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each treatment day.
Since this drug can be absorbed through the skin and lungs and may harm an unborn baby, women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant should not handle this medication or breathe the dust from the capsules.
Side Effect
Tiredness, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, mouth sores, weight loss, voice changes (hoarseness), or cough may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Depending on how severe your hand-foot syndrome is, your doctor may give you an additional medication to reduce the symptoms, or may stop or delay your tivozanib treatment.
This medication can affect how your thyroid works. Tell your doctor right away if you have signs of an underactive thyroid (such as weight gain, cold intolerance, slow heartbeat, constipation, or unusual tiredness) or signs of an overactive thyroid (such as mental/mood changes, heat intolerance, unusual weight loss).
Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: easy bruising/bleeding, slow wound healing, signs of kidney problems (such as change in the amount of urine), signs of infection (such as sore throat that doesn't go away, fever, chills), signs of heart failure (such as shortness of breath, swelling ankles/feet, unusual tiredness), signs of liver disease (such as nausea/vomiting that doesn't stop, stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing eyes/skin, dark urine).
Tivozanib can commonly cause a rash that is usually not serious. However, you may not be able to tell it apart from a rare rash that could be a sign of a severe reaction. Get medical help right away if you develop any rash.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
Precautions
Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: bleeding problems, recent surgery/injury, heart problems (such as heart failure, previous heart attack), high blood pressure, kidney problems, liver problems.
This medication may cause wounds to heal slowly or poorly. Before having surgery, talk with your doctor or dentist about the risks and benefits of this medication. Your doctor/dentist may tell you to temporarily stop treatment with this medication at least 24 days before surgery.
